Estes Park

Nestled at the eastern foot of the famous Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park enjoys millions of visitors each year. The Town of Estes Park has approximately 5000 residents who reside within the Town limits and 10,000+ throughout the Estes Park dispatch service area. The dispatch center has an average call volume of 7,000 9-1-1 calls per year, which includes both hardwire and cell calls.

The Estes Park Police Department has a 24-hour communications center which dispatches for several agencies throughout the Estes Park area. The center has 6 full time dispatchers, 1 part time and 1 supervisor. The department is overseen by the support services manager who reports directly to the Chief of Police. The dispatchers have an optimum coverage of 2 people per shift, however at times the dispatchers must answer phones and radio traffic while working solo.

The Communications center dispatches for Estes Park Police Department, Larimer County Sheriff's Deputies for the Estes Park area, Estes Park Ambulance service, Estes Park Fire Department, Glen Haven Fire Department and Estes Park Animal Control. Services are also provided for the Division of Wildlife and Colorado State Patrol (while in the Estes Park area) and after hour's dispatch and notification coverage for Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park Light & Power, Estes Park Water and Estes Valley Victim Advocates.

The communications center seeks opportunities to involve themselves in public education within the community. They annually go to the schools and other community functions to provide 9-1-1 uses and to answer questions citizens and visitors alike may have.
