Larimer County
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office Communications Center handles emergency and non-emergency calls for unincorporated Larimer County. We employ a Communications Director and 16 full time dispatch positions, including 3 Communications Supervisors.
Our center uses state-of-the-art communications equipment to handle an average of 16,000 calls per month. We dispatch for the Larimer County Sheriff's Deputies, Volunteer Fire and Quick Response Teams for Rist Canyon, Poudre Canyon, Livermore, Glacier View, Red Feather and Crystal Lakes. We also dispatch for Larimer County Emergency Services, Dive Team, Search and Rescue and the Sheriff's Posse. Our dispatchers are responsible for maintaining radio communications with other agencies when specific circumstances arise, such as interaction with the Colorado State Patrol, Division of Wildlife and Air Life. Our center dispatches for the Berthoud Police Department after hours, weekends and holidays.
All of our communications operators are certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch, which provides assistance to callers while medical units are dispatched in the appropriate manner. CPR certifications are kept current with each operator as well. Our training program for new communicators is 16 weeks long, training each operator how to handle a multitude of tasks and responsibilities. Our dispatch area spans 2,648 square miles, which requires our communications operators to have an extensive working knowledge of the county and its terrain.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is proud of the service that our Communications Center provides to the citizens of Larimer County.
