Larimer and Jackson County citizens pay this surcharge as part of their monthly phone bill. Telecommunications carriers then remit the surcharge to LETA.

LETA Surcharge Information

Under C.R.S. § 29-11-102, telecommunications carriers are required to impose a monthly 9-1-1 surcharge on customers and monthly remit the 9-1-1 surcharge to the 9-1-1 Governing Body based on the county for the customer’s billable address.

The 9-1-1 Surcharge for Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority (LETA) who’s governing authority is Larimer and Jackson County, Colorado, is $1.10 per line per month.

The counties that border Larimer or Jackson County have a 9-1-1 surcharge significantly higher than our surcharge at $1.10. Some Cities or Towns cross county lines. However, the surcharge needs to be collected and remitted based on the county the address is located in, not based on the city or zip code.
